SEPTEMBER 4 “UU PRINCIPLES AND LIBERAL VALUES”

Unitarian Universalists sometimes say that we are part of a “liberal religious tradition”, but what does “liberal” mean? On one hand, it reflects our tradition’s lack of strict creed, the freedom we allow in interpreting religious (or non-religious) texts, and our commitment to accepting different worldviews in our Fellowship. On the other hand, it reflects some of our tradition’s values, which, while not tied to any particular political affiliation, are associated with progressive views on human rights and liberties. Contact/convener is Scott Tanona at stanona@sbcglobal.net.

SEPTEMBER 11 “SYMPATHETIC THREADS: CONNECTING THE LIVES, HEARTS, AND MINDS OF OUR YOUTH”

Cory Zeller, in her new role as the Director of Religious Education, and Rev Michael Nelson explore the power relationships have to transform, inspire, and promote growth. Contact Michael at 537-2349 or minister@uufm.net

SEPTEMBER 18 “STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY”

Fellowship members Blake Belanger, Brice Hobrock and Elke Lorenz will discuss how a sense of place and belonging, the nurturing of children, and the primacy of moral and ethical values are all vital forces in sustaining community.  Learn more from Blake at belanger@ksu.edu

SEPTEMBER 25 “ELEVATOR SPEECH: WHY AM I A UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST?”

Reverend Michael Nelson asks, “What do you say when a stranger asks, ‘What is Unitarian Universalism?’ Of course it depends on who asks, but thinking through the possible responses can reduce an awkwardness that arises when we don’t know what to say. What answers deliver truth instead of evasion?” Learn more from Michael at 537-2349 or minister@uufm.net
