Thanksgiving Potluck

We had such a wonderful time on Saturday night at our Family Fun Thanksgiving Potluck. Lots of families came along with our room grandparents and other members of the fellowship. It was a packed house!

As the turkey finished cooking, gravy was made, and people arrived with their side dishes, we played and decorated place mats. The place mats were so colorful and artistic – and creative! I think the life cycle of the turkey was my favorite!

Then it was time to eat. We had turkey, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, fresh breads and rolls, salads, crock pot lasagna, and other yummy dishes. If you had any room left, there were plenty of desserts: cranberry salad, apple crisp, fig bread, caramel apple cheese cake, donuts, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, mince meat pie, and other delectable sweets. It was a feast!

When we were done eating, everyone was given a feather to write something they were thankful for on. Then we played “pin-the-feather-on-the-turkey.”  So fun! Maeve spun me so many times I headed in the complete wrong direction! Thankfully she guided me and I finally made it to the turkey. Our families and friends are thankful for so many things: their families, the fellowship, being able to celebrate together, friendships, food, and having fun.

The evening ended with a massive clean-up effort. Thank you Michael, Cybil, Kim, Scott, and Kathleen, among many others who extended helping hands in the kitchen.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday everyone!!
