Daily Social Action

The UUFM social action committee works on many aspects of social justice.  All those who come to the UUFM are welcome to be part of our actions. Our activities include serving a community breakfast, supporting various local social service agencies, supporting families at the Manhattan Crisis Center at Christmas time, collecting food for the Bread Basket  and being a charter member and co-sponsor of the Flint Hills GI Rights Hotline.  In 2013 the UUFM social action committee initiated a project to address the issue of immigration.  The result is Voice for Justice – now a coalition of six churches, a labor union and the Manhattan Alliance for Peace & Justice.  The committee would like to expand their activities and the above activities could all use more involvement from our membership. If you are interested in making these justice projects part of your life, contact Anne Cowan, Chair of the Social Action Committee of the UUFM
