Date/Time Event
9:30 am -10:30 am Themes in UU History and Theology   UUFM, Manhattan KS

Civil Rights

Where were UU’s as civil rights became an issue in the 1960’s?  How did they respond to a divided society?  In retrospect, the correct stance is clear.  What do we have to learn from UU southern congregations about taking positions of conscience on divisive social issues? All are invited to attend.  Learn more from Jonalu Johnstone at revjonalu@uufm.net.

10:45 am -12:00 pm Sunday Service   UUFM, Manhattan KS

Just Mercy

The UUFM Racial Justice Team presents this service.  In the fall, the Racial Justice Team held discussions of Bryan Stevenson’s book Just Mercy, focusing on the people most affected by the criminal justice system.  The team has continued to explore the historical roots of how criminal justice system has targeted people of color, and what we can do to change it.  Our convener is Mark Clarke at ibyte64@gmail.com.

Join us on Saturday, January 11, at 3:50 pm, in the lobby of the AMC Theatres in Manhattan Town Center mall.  We’ll meet to view the movie Just Mercy together, in preparation for Sunday’s service.  Learn more from Jonalu at revjonalu@uufm.net.
