“Simply punishing the broken–walking away from them or hiding them from sight–only ensures that they remain broken and we do, too.  There is no wholeness outside of our reciprocal humanity,” says Bryan Stevenson in Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, this year’s UUA Common Read.  The themes of justice, mercy and compassion in the legal system touch on national and local concerns, particularly as the legal issues affect people of color, poor people, and children.  Jonalu Johnstone invites you to join in an extended class on the book.  We’ll start on Thursday, October 15, 7 to 8:30 pm, at the Fellowship with discussion of the Introduction and Chapters 1-3.  At that session, we’ll schedule future sessions.  If you cannot attend that night, talk with Jonalu at revjonalu @ uufm.net, to have input into the schedule.  Learn more at www.uua.org/re/adults/read
