Rev Jill Jarvis of the Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence reflects, “Professor of Philosophy Firmin Debrabander claims in a New York Times article, that Americans lack a social understanding of human beings. Our belief that we’re independent agents, which he calls ‘Deluded Individualism,’ is not only irrational but also takes a heavy emotional toll on us. In recent decades Unitarian Universal- ists have sought a better balance away from extreme individualism and toward a greater sense of community. But there are different and more complex challenges waiting beyond our walls, in building relationships with interfaith community partners.”  Contact/convener is Dave Lambert at david.k.lambert@gmail.com.
