Under Our Noses: The Power of Insects to Intimately Influence Our Well-being

Our speaker is Hannah Quellhorst, PhD student, Department of Entomology at KSU.  Insects affect every major human activity.  They invade our homes, are our main competitors for food, are the greatest killer of humans (more than all wars combined) through vectored diseases, destroy forests, and disrupt ecosystems through invasion.  Yet, insects are our friends pollinating crops, protecting crops from bad insects, cleaning up our waste, and playing pivotal roles in many food chains.  We’ll explore how insects affect us in large and small ways.  Our convener is Emily Fraser at emily.jeanne.fraser@gmail.com.
