Happy New Year! We rung in the new year this month at Parents’ Night Out. We started the night by creating promise calendars. Each kid wrote a promise they vowed to keep in 2012 and then drew a calendar below it. For every month they keep their promise, they can give themselves a star, smiley face, or check mark. We’ll see how they do!

Then we threw pennies into a wishing well to make wishes for 2012. After everyone had a turn, we made our own wishing wells for dessert. Jello, pudding, Swedish fish – what could be better?!

After dessert, we played genie. Everyone had a turn to make a wish for the group: “everyone’s a bunny, everyone hops on one foot, everyone does jumping jacks.” It was super fun.

Then we watched “The Princess and the Frog,” a movie about a girl who has a dream and works hard to achieve it.

We had such a good night. 2012 is off to a good start!
