For Indigenous Peoples Day, we practice compassion for the natural world by embracing the truth that we are all related. Living in “right relations” with the natural world makes impacts on every aspect of our lives. Even if we were not socialized to practice compassion in this way, it is possible to reclaim our capacity to love the collective and find our place in the ecosystem.
Our speaker Dr. Debra Bolton (Ohkay Owingeh) is a scholar of geography, human displacement, and human belonging. She lives in Manhattan and teaches at Haskell Indian Nations University. Bolton is a former associate pastor at Community Congregational Church in Garden City, KS.
