Can we all just chill? Cultivating peace through sabbath practices (video available)

The annual Veterans’ Day Parade is surreal for those of us who envision a future without war. Fortunately there are alternative ways to witness for peace, express our love for veterans, and honor those who have died. This Sunday, we reflect on sabbath as one such practice. The Hebrew Bible presents a counterintuitive combination of reasons for a weekly day off: not only is rest an appropriate reward for a job well done, it is also a form of resistance to the unrelenting demands of empire. Which approach to rest will we take on November 11th? And how will chilling out make space not just for gratitude, our theme this month, but also world peace? Pastor Isabel will also share how they will bring the spirit of sabbath into their upcoming sabbatical.
