To my Beloved UUFM Community,
SETTING THE STAGE: CREATING SAFE, WELCOMING SPACES
The month of December has had particular momentum around our ongoing efforts to create safe and welcoming spaces for RE opportunities and programming. You may have seen the video update posted on our social media on December 3rd providing an overview of the work we’ve done so far, next steps, and connecting to our RE Wishlist.
Since that update, Dan tested for mold in the nursery post-cleaning, and it came back negative, so we are now able to move into the next phase of the nursery renovation. We have developed a plan for using a mold-killing additive or primer, as well as a design for repainting the nursery and for rearranging the storage components. Members of Building and Grounds, the RE Team, the Aesthetics Team, and other UUFM members with design expertise have been consulted in the development of this plan, and we will be able to begin implementing within the month!
Meanwhile: the RE Team has been developing a plan around tackling the Neptune Room and the old DRE office with a work day in January. We are breaking the task into categories (like books, art, nursery toys) and assigning leads for each category that folks interested in joining the effort can coordinate with on the work day itself. The goal is to purge what we are not using, organize what we are, and make room for some new and updated materials. We hope you’ll consider joining us for this project.
