In the picture book, The Other Way to Listen, an elder helps a young person learn to listen deeply to the natural world. When we adopt this listening practice in the presence of both human and more-than-human beings, we aren’t waiting for our turn to speak. We aren’t assessing the truth or validity of what we’re hearing. And even if we don’t like what we’re hearing, we can still tap into wonder. Pastor Isabel brings this ancient wisdom into our cultural context as an expression of our monthly theme, Awakening Curiosity.
