This service is designed to be a participatory worship experience for all ages that explores what it means to live out the value of interdependence—literally and metaphorically—through the shared act of weaving. As participants contribute their individual “threads” (gifts, stories, needs, and promises) into a collective weaving made at each table, they become co-creators of community.

Each stage of the weaving process, guided by the wisdom story that makes up the service, reflects a dimension of communal life: what we bring, what we carry, what we need, what we offer, and what we commit to one another. As their loom fills, participants can see a living representation of belonging taking shape through many small, intentional acts.

The purpose of this service is to:

Make the value of interdependence visible and tangible across generations
Offer a multigenerational worship experience that doesn’t rely on literacy or prior knowledge
Create space for many ways of being and engaging
Invite reflection on gifts, stories, needs, and commitments as foundational elements of community life
Strengthen relational bonds within the congregation through shared creation
By the end of the hour, each table will hold a unique woven artifact that reflects the community in that moment: imperfect, unfinished, and held together through participation, care, and presence.
