Fear into Friendship

A rising focus on White Christian Nationalism in the past few years has concentrated on statistics and surveys, ideologies and values. But when we get into the heart of this worldview, we encounter fear, loss, scarcity, and grief — some of the very same feelings we also experience in response to the teachings and actions associated with this movement. What would it take for us and for our neighbors to be liberated from the grip of this fear? We’ll consider this question of transformation together, as we learn about possible next steps in a response to White Christian Nationalism.

Rev. Rachael Pryor is Director of Engagement for Kansas Interfaith Action. She is also an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and serves on the regional staff for Kansas-Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Rachael grew up attending Labor Day parades and rallies in Toledo, Ohio as the daughter of a union worker, and never lost her dedication to economic justice. A native of Michigan, she has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan and an M.Div. from Princeton Seminary. Rachael has lived in Lindsborg, Kansas for the past 10 years with her partner and their four children (ages 13, 10, 4, and 1). She brings 6 years of KIFA Board experience (3 as Chair) and Kansas legislative advocacy to this role. Rachael is passionate about building community through connecting people, sharing stories, and creating momentum for practical, meaningful change, one step at a time.
