Charles Exdell shares his experiences as a traveler, photography teacher, and community leader in Bahia, Brazil. He focuses on the central role of culture in Brazil’s new developmental model, and the social challenges facing Northeastern Brazil–the country’s poorest region. He examines the positive impact art has had in the lives of youth and shows recently published photographs that were taken by his students. Convener: Dick Beeman.
