Happy New Year! 2018 is going to be an awesome year so we’re starting the celebration with a MENTOS EXPLOSION on January 7 – don’t miss it!
OUR WHOLE LIVES (OWL)
OWL K-2 – Our Whole Lives for those in Kindergarten through 2nd grade starts in February and runs through mid-March. The K-2 program supports parents in educating children about birth, babies, bodies and families. The weekly one-hour sessions engage children with stories, songs, and activities and include a weekly HomeLink–a homework project for parents and children to do together. If you have questions about this nationally acclaimed curriculum, or if you intend to sign up your child(ren) for the class, please attend a PARENT INFORMATION MEETING on Sunday, JANUARY 14, or Sunday, JANUARY 21, after the morning service. Of course, you can always contact Sandy at 341-0135 or dre@uufm.net with questions.
OWL 7-9 – We’ll also be offering the Our Whole Lives curriculum for young teens this winter/spring. Our trained facilitators are Jen and Matt Campbell, and Molly McGaughey. Classes will be Sundays from 12:30-3:00 pm and begin January 7. We understand that students won’t be able to make every class, but we hope they can attend most. If you have a student in 7th-9th grade and would like them to attend, let Sandy know. She’s happy to answer questions about the OWL program. There’s also great information at www.uua.org/re/owl.
PARENT NIGHT OUT/KID NIGHT IN
Our next Parent Night Out (Kid Night In) gathers on Friday, JANUARY 5, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, at the Fellowship. Parent Night Out is designed for children from 3 to 12 years old who can toilet on their own with minimal assistance. We watch a movie, have some popcorn, and games and art projects are available. In January we’ll ring in the New Year with some sparkling cider at 9:00 p.m. (New Year’s in Greenland plus a few days). A $5 per child contribution helps us cover expenses. Dinner is NOT served at Parent Night Out. Please be sure your kids are fed before arriving. This is an RSVP event and space is limited. Please RSVP no later than Thursday, January 4, so that Sandy can gather supplies and make plans.
See you soon,
Sandy
