Our guest, Harold Schlechtweg, is Advocacy Coordinator of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Wichita. The IRC responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered survive, recover, and control their future. In 2017 IRC helped resettle 365 refugees in Kansas — about half as many as IRC resettled here in 2016. Harold joins us to share their stories, and to warn that America’s formerly robust support for refugees is threatened now as never before, bringing us hope that with our help a new day for refugees can dawn again. Our convener is Elke Lorenz.
