MAYOR’S SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAYS LIGHTED PARADE – Don’t miss the parade – our Holiday Family Fun event on Friday, December 7 from about 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to participate. We’ll supply LED candles to hold for those riding on the float and for those walking alongside. Lights are important so go ahead and adorn yourself with battery operated lights! We’ll start lining up in the mall parking lot at 5:15 p.m. The parade begins at 5:30 pm, on Poyntz Avenue, travels through downtown Manhattan, and ends at City Park. After the parade, gather in Aggieville’s Triangle Park for the annual tree-lighting ceremony. Contact Molly McGaughey for last minute details: 785-341-9960.
OUR WHOLE LIVES – Our Whole Lives (OWL) classes will be held mid-January through mid-March. OWL is a respected UU sexual education program. Children learn in an accurate and age appropriate way about human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. The core values are self worth, sexual health, responsibility, and justice, and inclusivity. We expect to offer the 4th through 6th grade curriculum. It all depends on interest and class numbers. If you have children within those age ranges and would like to enroll them in OWL, or if you simply have questions about the OWL program, contact Sandy Nelson at dre@uufm.net as soon as possible. Also, there’s a lot of great information at: http://www.uua.org/re/owl.
