As a woman of faith, Jeanna leads with both hope and action. A born and raised Midwesterner, she has spent her life bringing people together. Throughout her time on the campaign trail as well as many times before and after, Jeanna reflected on the meaning of service that her parents instilled in her. Her father was a Vietnam veteran and police officer, and her mother was a civil rights activist turned Lutheran pastor.
Jeanna was raised by strong, resourceful, caring, and community-oriented Black women – matriarchs who continue to inspire her to pass on their legacy to her own children as well as her community. The wisdom that her family instilled in her has inspired to seek a path forward in politics, where, “We can both fight for the causes we care about, while also taking the time to show our neighbors that we love them.”
Jeanna spent her career as a broadcast media manager, specializing in radio production. Her community leadership background includes directing outreach for one of the largest churches in the country, as well as serving as president for numerous Parent-Teacher Organizations and booster clubs.
She lives in Overland Park with her husband Kyle, where they raised three amazing children.
