Equity, Privilege, and Family in Prison (video available)

This Sunday, we’ll explore how equality and equity are two different approaches to addressing the reality of inequality. How can justice embrace inclusion and belonging? We’ll look at how privileges and inequality intersect, and then extend our awareness and hearts toward family members in prison. This is an invitation to swell liberating love by widening our circles.

Shannon Gorres, MDiv, MA, lives outside of Lawrence, KS. Her Catholic roots led her into progressive Protestantism, then Vedanta Yoga, Buddhism, and Universal Sufism. She was first ordained in the United Church of Christ, and then ordained in the Sufi Ruhaniat International. She worked as an interfaith chaplain for 9 years. Last year, she served as the minister at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Topeka. She is certified in mindfulness and embodiment as a Sivananda yoga teacher and as a nature and forest therapy guide. A mother, poet, and queer, she is deeply embracing a hurting world and mending the ruptures that deter us from knowing divine love.
