May 2022 –

Members and Friends of UUFM,

Thank you for trusting me with the leadership of your congregation this past year.  It has been quite a year! I will be stepping down at the end of this month, passing the torch to Amy Betz.  Amy has proved to be a more than capable leader over the past several months and we are lucky to have her to lead us through another year of building and re-building our congregation “post-COVID.”  (Even though we know that there is no such thing as truly post-COVID.)

Past Chair Rob Morrison will be retiring from the Board at the end of May.  COVID set us back, but there have been silver linings to that cloud–not the least of which is that we are now fully capable of streaming our service online simultaneously with our in-person service.  Rob was instrumental in making that happen, along with a cohort of techies we are blessed to have among us.  Rob will continue to serve UUFM as co-chair of the Sunday Services Committee.  Thanks so much, Rob!

We celebrated the success of the OWL program this spring and the continuation of a lively RE program. Everyone is invited to RE in the park–every Saturday afternoon, from 3 to 5 pm, at CiCo Park.  What an excellent way to catch up with our young parents and watch the kids play and learn.

Our delegates to the UUA General Assembly being held June 22-26 are Rob Morrison, Amy Betz, and Amelia Richter.  Pastor Isabel will attend GA in Portland, OR while Rob, Amy, and Amelia attend virtually.  There will be opportunities for you to virtually attend some of the GA events at the Fellowship along with Rob, Amy and Amelia.

Financially, Grow Green was a success with over $31,000 being donated to our general account.  We should get most or all of the $10,000 match to our endowment fund.

If you have not yet sent in your pledge sheet, please get that back to Chris Bailey as soon as possible by mail, email or in-person on Sunday.

Have a great summer!   Judy
