I want to give an update on the UUFM building and grounds.   If you get a chance to stop by, it is worth it.  The flowers continue to bloom in their season.  There is always something in full bloom.  Last week the butterflies were feeding on the bergamot (hope I identified that correctly!).

The two most exciting things that have happened are discovering two meat dishes that had been left in the oven and a millipede invasion.  We just could not figure out where the smell was coming from until Charlie, my dog, homed in.  The millipedes are harmless and seem to have been getting in the building through the two cleaning drains in the floor of the bathrooms.  These are now covered.

We thank Troy who, after many years, has decided to stop doing our janitorial work.  This means we will be changing to a professional service.  Marta’s and Son will be stripping/waxing the tile floors and cleaning the car-pet in the next few weeks.  To prepare, we will move things out of the classrooms and then clear chairs from the sanctuary. The building has needed a good deep cleaning for a while.  After this, we will likely use Marta’s for regular cleaning at a reduced schedule.

We are also working on how to replace the tile in the Alsop room.  Carpet One and Jerry’s Carpet are scheduled to prepare bids.  Another option is for us to do the work ourselves.  Once we get the bids, we will be deciding on how to proceed.

Finally, we need a new Facilities chair.  I am still acting, but since I am now Treasurer, I hope someone will want to take over the facilities.

Take care,         Dan Swenson
